La Belle Rose

La Belle Rose

Pretty in pink!

The floral pants really inspired this outfit. When I think of floral I think of spring and summer, and while this outfit could work during those times of year, I think it could go into fall as well with the soft pinks and beige tones. (Hence why I categorized it in all three seasons!)

Seriously loving the baby pink Tory Burch satchel and the trendy new lace-up flats also in a light pink. I consider light pink a neutral because like beige and nude, it can really blend well with everything – black, gray, white, tan, ivory, green, the list goes on!

Disclaimer: Most designs I put together are designer items that run hundreds to thousands of dollars. I can't afford them nor am I suggesting you purchase them. But by all means, if you got, flaunt it! I am simply putting together sets by different designers that I enjoy and mainly for inspirational purposes. It's always fun to go out and hunt for inexpensive versions of the designer. Just keepin' it real with ya!

Swoon Over Reese Witherspoon

8.31.2015

In the last two days, I’ve seen two featured articles of the Legally Blonde actress talking about the launch of her new Southern-inspired clothing, accessories and home goods line, “Draper James.” The name comes from her grandparents, Dorothea Draper and William James Witherspoon. Reese pays homage to her Southern roots with a SoCal twist. You’ll find classic prints like gingham and stripes, and feminine dresses in lace and bright florals, as well as cardigans and branded t-shirts.

The obsession is real, y’all – take a look below to see some of my favorites from her collection!

COFFEE (1)

The clothing ranges from casual chic to dressier attire (think Derby Day-appropriate).

COFFEE

Reese and her team did a wonderful job designing the of-the-moment style that pairs two matching separates. I love that the top and bottom are interchangeable and can be styled from casual to dressy by alternating accessories.

2

Accessories range from pearl necklaces to leather handbags and, of course, a monogrammed iPhone case.

But Witherspoon’s new line is hardly a cheap celebrity collaboration. Prices are definitely high-end – the sterling silver Magnolia Bowl costs $400, a pair of stud earrings cost $100, and dresses start at $225.

See below how Reese incorporates her new ready-to-wear line into her street style!

By the time I get home from work, I’m ready to take a hot shower, throw on my pj’s and sulk in the comfort of my fluffy sheets with a good book. See my must-have items for the perfect lazy day.

Hey y’all! So this week’s Fresh Picks is a bit under-dressed if you will. I’m feeling out of sorts lately and drained. This might be because mother nature bestowed upon me her “monthly visit” or perhaps the fact that I’ve been so swamped at work recently. Simply put, I’m feeling lazy.

This little rut that I’ve been in has also hindered my creative ability and has left me feeling unmotivated so I’ve been spending a lot of my spare time researching blogs and getting some cool ideas for my own ON MY BRAND NEW MACBOOK. Yay.

By the time I get home from work, I’m ready to take a hot shower, throw on my pj’s and sulk in the comfort of my fluffy sheets with a good book. *Disclaimer* This is no different than any other normal evening in the House of Haley. There, I said it.

So, these are my must-have items for the perfect lazy day.

PicMonkey Collage

1. Wildfox Sketchy Palms Sunday Morning Tee, $73 // I first came across this brand when I worked at Nordstrom. Although the price is a bit steep for loungewear, they are the most comfortable & soft shirts I’ve ever owned. The designs are always so cute and very urban-chic. Love.

2. KIND Bars // Recently have been obsessed with these. They are packed with nutritional value and super tasty as well. I had the dark chocolate/peanut butter protein bar for breakfast this morning. I always crave chocolate and sweets during that time of month so this was a nice treat.

3. Williams-Sonoma Copper Coffee Mug, $29.95 // Copper and rose gold are my weakness right now. This mug is super cute and simple. Going on my Christmas list! Yes, I know it’s July.

4. Victoria’s Secret PINK Collegiate Sweats, $54.95 // Remember those VS sweats that said “PINK” across the butt that every girl wore in high school? Well I’m not ashamed to say that I still do wear those sometimes. These are the more updated “chic” version I suppose. VS PINK is still my go-to for loungewear.

5. “Namast’ay in bed” pillow, $20 // Found this pillow on Pinterest. I just thought it was cute. Couldn’t find the same one to purchase but link takes you to one very similar.

6. Frank’s Coffee Scrub, $17.95 // LOVE THIS SHIT. Seriously go buy it. Makes my whole body feel like silk. I have the coconut one. Feels like a beach day without the sand in your pants.

7. The Husband’s Secret, around $14 // This is the book I’m currently reading. It came highly recommended and seems to have pretty good reviews. I spend a lot of time on the commuter bus going to work so I tend to read a lot. I will be adding a new category to my blog where I rate and review books I’ve read. Stay tuned!

8. MacBook Pro 15″, $1,999 // I am an avid user of all Apple products. I even went as far as purchasing stock with Apple a few years ago. I am starting grad school this fall and liked my old MacBook 13″ so much that I wanted to repurchase but go a little bigger. I use my laptop for all things blogging, graphics, netflix, and school work. Mac has never let me down! A plus to the 2015 design: Apple has made the MacBook’s much thinner than previous years so it’s super easy to take on travel or stow away.

9. GLAMGLOW Super Mud, $69 // Holy grail item!! On my lazy days, I like to give myself an at-home spa treatment. I had heard so many wonderful things about this mask as it supposedly does wonders to clear skin. Well they didn’t lie! The BEST face mask I’ve ever used. My face had a literal glow after using just one time. It can also be used as a spot treatment to clear blemishes. I have combination/oily skin and still breakout from time to time and this stuff helps tremendously.

Now all that’s left to do is nothing! Happy lazy day!

Fresh Picks No. 4

7.10.2015

My busy schedule last week didn’t allow time to post a Fresh Picks.  I went to Mrytle Beach with some college girlfriends last weekend to celebrate the holiday weekend and am heading to Ocean City, MD this weekend to spend some time at the beach with my amazing family! I thought a Fresh Picks catered to a beach day outfit would be appropriate. See below some of my current favorite items this summer!

1

1. Chloe + Isabel Bora Bora convertible pendant necklace, $52 // This necklace features bright summery colors and looks stylish no matter how you wear it, one, two or all three necklaces.  One of my favorite things about Chloe + Isabel jewelry – many things are super versatile!  *DISCLAIMER* you will never see me wear jewelry like this to the beach for a couple of reasons. 1) I actually like to go in the ocean and get sandy, not just sit around and look pretty and 2) the beach really isn’t a place for nice jewelry as it will cause damage to the finish. Wearing jewelry would be more acceptable if you plan to go to Vegas or an elaborate pool party where you also plan to wear 5 inch wedges with your bathing suit. lol.

2. Custom black floppy hat, $14.99+ // Every girl needs a big floppy hat to take to the beach for sun protection and style! This hat can be customized with a name or monogram and the black band is removable for a more chic option to wear to dinner.

3. Mara Hoffman print underwire bikini // This is an older suit that I purchased a while ago. Limited sizes may be available on a different site. I absolutely love her bikinis! The link that’s embedded is a direct link to the Mara Hoffman website where you can shop all of her collections including: swimwear, active wear, tops, bottoms, evening, etc.

4. House of Fraser Lace and Tassel beach cover-up, $48 // The perfect white beach cover-u! Love the tassel and lace details.

5. Mar y Sol ‘Caracas’ tote, $115 // Loving anything and everything with pom-poms these days! An eco-friendly tote woven from responsibly sourced agave leaves offers a creative, handmade take on the classic beach bag. Not only is this bag stylish but it also gives back. The sale of Mar y Sol products enables families to gain economic independence, preserves traditional craft and promotes environmental conservation. Always love a fashion product that doubles as a way to promote charity. Win-win!

6. Control Corrective sunscreen SPF 30, $28 // Back story: Chrissy Teigen (my spirit animal) has mentioned how much she loves her esthetician, Shani Darden, and her amazing products. A few months ago I purchased a few items on her site, this sunscreen being one of them. As I’ve gotten older I have realized just how important sun protection is, especially on my face. I hardly ever like to layout in the sun for long periods of time anymore. I’d much rather throw on my over-sized hat and wear self-tanner than to have sunspots and wrinkles at a young age. I have to say this sunscreen trumps any other facial sunscreen including the beloved Neutrogena “Faces Only.” I have pretty sensitive skin and this oil-free sunscreen works great, feels clean and has never made me breakout. Holy grail item!

7. Chloe + Isabel Bora Bora open cuff bracelet, $42 // Currently wearing this beauty right now. This bracelet is also from the Bora Bora collection. I am just so obsessed with this collection and the beautiful colors it boasts.

8. Tory Burch Moore flat thong sandal, $195 // Made of tumbled leather with a graphic laser-cut double-T logo, this refined style offers comfort, versatility and a pared-down silhouette that’s an easy match to everything in your warm-weather wardrobe.

9. Oakley Polarized ‘Feedback,’ $210 // OBSESSED. My boyfriend bought these for me as an early anniversary present. I wanted a pair of mirrored glasses or “flash” sunglasses as some people call them and these are absolutely perfect. I went into the store with 100% intention of buying the ever-so-popular Ray Ban’s but hated the quality. These are so comfortable and are polarized making it easier to see on the bright sandy beach.

I feel like summer is flying by 😦 Hope y’all are enjoying it while you can!

Designer Spotlight: Emily Schuman “Cupcakes and Cashmere”

7.7.2015

Introducing the Cupcakes and Cashmere Fall 2015 Collection! The attention to refined tailoring, quality materials and universally wearable pieces surpassed my expectations.

Many of you may be familiar with Emily Schuman’s website, “Cupcakes & Cashmere.”  She is also the author of two books dedicated to personal lifestyle advice on fashion, food, decor and everything in between. Emily is my ultimate blogger crush. My favorite series of hers is “5 Things” where she posts 5 pictures of her current obsessions every week. The layout of her blog is pleasing to the eye and the relativity of her posts makes reading it so desirable.

Emily began her career working for Condé Nast publications Domino and Teen Vogue. She later started her blog as a way to document the things that she loved and was eventually able to make it her career. Emily has quite the eye for fashion and she recently took her talent to the next level by becoming the designer of her very own line, “Cupcakes and Cashmere.”

“I’m thrilled to introduce the Cupcakes and Cashmere Fall 2015 Collection! The line has over 60 pieces, which will be rolled out in three delivery phases, over the next couple of months. The entire process has been both an amazing personal and professional experience and I’m so proud of the final products. The attention to refined tailoring, quality materials and universally wearable pieces surpassed my expectations. You can view a gallery of the first delivery below and shop the collection at Nordstrom.com (live at 10am) and now at Shopbop.com! There’s more to come, so stay tuned.”  -Emily Schuman

Absolutely love that this collection will be sold at my favorite store, Nordstrom. (Nordy girl forever!) All of the pieces are simple, chic and great quality that come at a reasonable price. You can find the Cupcakes and Cashmere collection in the t.b.d. department online or varying locations. Check out some of my favorite pieces below – all styles are featured on Emily’s blog!

Fresh Picks No. 3

6.25.2015

Ridiculously high temperatures and the need to dress professionally – summer-inspired work outfit featuring cool layers and soft colors.

This week was officially the first week of summer and we all felt it here in Maryland. A heat wave brought nearly 100 degree humid air across the northeast bringing with it some awful storms on Tuesday. With these ridiculously high temperatures and the need to dress professionally, I’ve decided to dedicate this week’s fresh picks to cool summer outfits that are still work appropriate.

I work in Washington, DC where there are lots of tall, concrete buildings on every block.  Not much air moves in the midst of downtown DC and it can feel suffocating at times. The mornings can be cool but by the afternoon and early evening, temperatures are blazing.

I love to dress in layers. Between the cool mornings, hot afternoons and subzero degree office temperatures, there is constant removing and adding of clothing. I also love to mix and match my work wardrobe so I usually look for neutral separates that can be worn many different ways.  Look stylish and chic but save money while doing it!

Below I put together a summer-inspired work outfit featuring cool layers and soft colors.

fresh picks 3

1. Ally Fashion Stripe Edge to Edge Ponte Blazer, $35.99 – This is the perfect statement blazer. With a full-length sleeve it can be transitioned from summer to winter w/ a neutral dress or separates.  To dress it down, I could wear this blazer with ripped boyfriend jeans, a t-shirt and statement necklace.

2. Fossil Jacqueline small three-hand leather watch in light brown, $115 – I love the new look of small watches. Over a year ago, my fashion forecasting teacher predicted that small-face watches would start penetrating the market again and she was right. I think the smaller band is a lot easier to wear during the summer – less is more.

3. Rebecca Minkoff ‘Adeline’ tote in khaki, $295 – A structured bag that works perfectly for an everyday carryall. This bag is made from super lightweight saffiano leather, and features her newest design, an unlined bag – great for summer!

4. Choies Blue V-neck sleeveless Chiffon blouse, $18.99 – This inexpensive sleeveless blouse is perfect for layering and the light blue shade is a pretty pastel for summer. Wear the blouse and skirt alone for a look stylish and cool ensemble in the summer heat! Available in many different colors.

5. Chloe + Isabel Heritage Blossom convertible earrings, $48 – These beauties showcase a great color combination and really add that wow factor to an outfit. The best part – they’re convertible, yes convertible! Get your daily dose of sparkle with the mother-of-pearl studs, or attach the dazzling floral drop components to make an instant statement. This stunning 2-in-1 set makes for the perfect desk-to-dinner style embellishment!
E256-a    E256

6. Alice + Olivia Parson cotton miniskirt, $150 (40% off) – An orange/coral-y color and carefully placed pleats encapsulates girly summer style perfectly. Just enough flare for some fun, feminine glamour.

7. Nordstrom Vince Camuto ‘Emore’ leather sandal, $128.95 – One of the most popular shoes sold at Nordstrom two years in a row and for good reason! These babies are stylish and SO comfortable. I walk quite a bit in the city during my work week so I look for comfort when shoe shopping. Love the caged look and peep-toe! Available in black, cherry and tan (featured in post).

8. Starbucks Gradient Gold Cold Cup Tumbler (24 fl. oz.), $14.95 – Oh, Starbucks. Not only do you take my money every morning for that delicious scone and iced coffee but you also force me to shop while I wait in line. I’m not mad though. I could not pass up this adorable gold cup so it’s currently sitting on my desk. During the summer heat it’s important to drink lots of water so why not do so in style!

Stay cool, friends! Until next time…
